Direct-care workers are known by many titles, including direct support professional, personal care attendant, certified nursing assistant (CNA), nursing assistant, home health aide, home care aide, and personal assistant. They provide an estimated 70 to 80 percent of the paid hands-on long-term care and personal assistance received by Americans who are elderly, chronically ill, or living with disabilities. There were approximately 2.5 million direct-care workers in the U.S. in 2003, and another 800,000 jobs are expected to open up over the next ten years as the population ages. Direct-care workers work in many places, including their clients’ homes, adult day centers, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and other community settings. Our specialty is providing direct care support staff to organizations responsible for serving individuals with developmental disabilities. We also recruit and provide staffing to programs serving adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems.
We carefully screen the Direct Care Staff candidates according to the guidelines and regulations established by the Missouri Department of Mental Health. These include comprehensive background checks, face to face interviews, and verification of references. Once selected, the candidate completes our internal orientation and training, before being scheduled for the specific orientation and training required by the program to which they will be assigned.
Our staffing services include: providing Temporary staff on an as needed basis for coverage of shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; Temporary to Hire staff, allowing the client to assess the suitability and performance of the staff prior to actually hiring; and Direct to Hire, whereby we will recruit, screen, and refer a candidate to the client for final determination of direct hiring.
On both the Temporary and Temporary to Hire arrangements, the staff person remains on our payroll, and we assume all liability and responsibility for Human Resources and all other Personnel functions, while the client oversees their on-the-job performance.
